I believe the answer is: They showed the strength of christian belief
Many of the martyrs died in their effort to spread their religion and refused to disavowed their religion even if they're heavily pressured. Many people who witness this perceive their actions as strength, which eventually influenced many people to adopt Christianity as their religion.
