evangelist character in pilgrim's progress is?

There is no subtle character name or names in the book pilgrim’s progress but it is John Bunyan the writer considers himself as the “Evangelist” character probably because he is referring to his favorite gospel writer “John the Evangelist”. According to Bunyan he himself is a preacher since an Evangelist also seems to stand as the example of a good teacher.
