Idiom is the actual meaning of a word.

Metaphor is a comparison between two nouns without using like or as.

Allusion is a reference to a person, place, or thing.

Idiom:  an idiom is the use of words meaning one thing but meant to mean another thing.

Metaphor: the comparing of two unlike things using like or as.

Allusion: a reference to another work of art/literature.
