Population depends on many things like raw materials, education( meaning if they have enough knowledege about birth control, development. For example in less developed country the life expectancy rate is low because of sanitation and medical purposes. But the population grows higher because birth rate increases. But in developed countries people have higher life expectancy and lower pirth rate so thier population decreases. I hope this helps.
