k = -2.4

Explanation:[tex]-5k\text{ = 12}[/tex]

Divide both sides by -5:

[tex]\begin{gathered} \frac{-5k}{-5}=\frac{12}{-5} \\ \end{gathered}[/tex]

Division of same sign gives positive number. Division of opposite signs give negative number.
