4x+12=8 that’s because you would distribute what’s outside and multiply it by what’s inside. Basically, 4 times x= 4x and 4x3=12 giving you the equation 4x+12=8 once you’ve set the equation subtract 12 from 8 because you have to do the opposite in order to cancel out 12…so then you get 4x=-4 then you divide the 4 from 4x and leave the x.
