A great way to figure this out is to actually multiply it. 2/5 x 5/1 You can simplify numbers diagonally, so the two fives can both cancel out into ones. now we have 2/1 x 1/1, which is the same as 2x1 This equals 2, which is less than five.
One great thing to know is that anything multiplied by a number less than one (a fraction or a decimal) will always be smaller than the original number.
