3/8y- 5/8 y = 5/12- 1/12
-2/8y = 4/12
-1/4y = 1/3
y = 1/3 *(-4)
y = - 4/3

if those are fractions im looking at then than

1/2=y or y=1/2

1/12+3/8y=5/12+5/8y

6/12=8/8y
