- 3  1/4  and - 1  1/2

3  1/4 =  (3*4 + 1)/4 = (12 + 1) / 4 = 13 / 4

1  1/2 =  (1*2 + 1)/2 = (2 + 1) / 2 = 3 / 2

Product of - 3  1/4  and - 1  1/2 =  - 13/4  * -3/2

= 39 / 8

= 4    7/8
