4) cross multiply to get 3(2x - 6) = 6; multiply

6x - 18 = 6; add 18 to both sides

6x = 24; divide both sides by 6

x = 4

5) cross multiply to get 3(5x + 4) = 11x; multiply

15x + 12 = 11x; subtract 15x from both sides

12 = -4x; divide both sides by -4

-3 = x
