step by step to solve for the median (middle) of a data set:
1. list all of the numbers in the data set from least to greatest.
2. cross off the smallest number and then cross off the greatest number. Keep doing to find the number in the center.
3. when there is 1 number left in the center that will be the median.
4. if there are 2 numbers left, find the middle value by adding both of the values and dividing by 2
