Russia turned in to a communist country in the 1990s.
During this time America was so afraid of the Soviet Union that people were accusing each other of being part of the communist party that one person, Joe McCarthy, actually thought that he was the only one who could save America, and people believed this. He accused people in high ranking positions of communism and ruins many reputations. The Russians were in fact communist at this time.
